Jed Kennedy and Dothan High Part Ways
Dothan High is making a change at the top of its football program midway through the 2026 season. The Wolves currently sit at 2-3 following a 42-21 loss to Enterprise.
Head football coach Jed Kennedy has resigned after four-plus seasons leading the Wolves, according to a report from the Dothan Eagle. Defensive coordinator Jimmie Tyson will take over as Dothan’s interim head coach.
Kennedy took over the Dothan program ahead of the 2022 season and compiled a 29-19 record during his tenure.
His first season produced one of the best years in the young program’s history. Dothan finished 8-4 in 2022 and earned the first playoff victory in program history before falling to Auburn in the second round. The eight victories also set a program record for wins in a season at the time.
The Wolves followed with another eight-win season in 2023, finishing 8-3 and returning to the Class 7A playoffs. Dothan went 5-5 in 2024 and 6-4 in 2025.
Kennedy brought an extensive coaching background to Dothan. Before taking over the Wolves, he had head-coaching stops in Illinois, Wisconsin and Florida, compiling a 115-47 record outside Alabama. His résumé includes a Wisconsin Division 1 state championship at Kenosha Bradford in 2011 and state runner-up finishes at Brookfield Central in 2017 and 2018.
Kennedy arrived in the Wiregrass after spending two seasons on the staff at Enterprise.
Tyson, who has served as Dothan’s defensive coordinator, now takes over the program on an interim basis as the Wolves continue their 2026 schedule.
